Discipline 01 • Structural Analysis & Infrastructure

Civil & Structural Design Engineering

Industrial civil and structural engineering at PMSC is anchored in rigorous 3D finite-element modeling (FEM) to withstand extreme thermal, environmental, and mechanical load combinations. We engineer robust factory foundations and superstructure systems customized for heavy industrial operating conditions.

  • Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB) & Heavy Structural Steel: Complete structural design of multi-span industrial production sheds, warehousing bays, and utility enclosures. Engineering includes tapered portal frames, cold-formed Z/C secondary purlins, crane runway girders engineered for heavy EOT cranes (up to 50T capacity), surge bracing, and wind-resistant canopy structures.
  • Dynamic Machine Foundations: Specialized block foundation and vibration-isolated pedestal design for reciprocating compressors, ball mills, hammermills, rotary centrifuges, and heavy stamping presses. Analysis adheres to IS 2974 (Parts 1–5) and DIN 4024 to ensure the natural frequency of the machine-foundation-soil system stays safely outside the resonance excitation zone (±20% margin).
  • Pipe-Racks, Trestles & Infrastructure: Multi-tier structural steel pipe racks with modular anchor bays, expansion loop supports, and road-crossing gantries. Design incorporates longitudinal thermal thrusts, wind load drag coefficients to IS 875 (Part 3), and seismic response spectrum parameters to IS 1893 (Part 4).
  • Industrial Drainage & Containment: Gravity industrial effluent collection trenches, acid/alkali-resistant brick-lined neutralization sumps, secondary containment bunds for chemical storage tanks (sized to 110% capacity), and stormwater drainage schemes.
Key Civil/Structural Deliverables:

STAAD.Pro calculation models • Foundation GA & reinforcement details • Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) • Structural steel fabrication shop drawings • Factory inspectorate statutory submission dossiers.

Discipline 02 • Process Layouts & Piping Stress

Mechanical, Equipment & Process Piping Engineering

Our mechanical engineering practice develops coordinated, high-efficiency equipment layouts and high-pressure process piping systems that maximize uptime, streamline maintenance access, and eliminate operational bottlenecks.

  • P&ID Development & Line Sizing: Detailed Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) generated from chemical process flow diagrams (PFDs). Includes line sizing calculations based on allowable velocity and pressure drop criteria, valve material selection, equipment nozzle sizing, and inline instrument specification sheets.
  • 3D Piping Layouts & Spatial Coordination: Full 3D modeling of process and utility lines across Carbon Steel (ASTM A106), Stainless Steel (SS304/SS316/SS316L hygienic orbital weld), Alloy Steel, and specialized polymer/lined piping. Ergonomic valve accessibility, pump Net Positive Suction Head (NPSH) line routing, and filter element withdrawal clearances are validated before issuing construction drawings.
  • Fabrication Isometrics & Bill of Materials: Generation of high-fidelity spool isometrics showing exact cut lengths, weld gap tolerances, fitting classes, gasket callouts, bolt torques, and complete material take-offs (MTO) for competitive procurement.
  • Storage Bins, Silos & Vessel Design: Structural and process design of vertical bulk solids storage silos, hoppers, and day bins factoring in Jenike bulk powder shear flow rheology (mass flow vs. funnel flow). Atmospheric liquid storage tanks designed to API 650, API 620, and IS 803 standards.
  • High-Pressure Flexibility & Stress Analysis: Finite element piping stress analysis using CAESAR II. Evaluates sustained (weight, pressure), thermal expansion, and occasional (wind, seismic, water hammer) load cases. Verification of pump, turbine, and compressor nozzle allowable forces and moments against API 610, API 617, and NEMA SM23 standards, with tailored spring hanger and expansion joint specification.
Key Mechanical/Piping Deliverables:

Approved P&IDs with line schedules • Equipment layout drawings with maintenance envelopes • 3D clash audit models • Spool isometrics with MTO • CAESAR II stress dossiers.

Discipline 03 • Power Distribution & Automation

Electrical, Power & Instrumentation Engineering

PMSC designs robust, fault-tolerant industrial electrical power infrastructure from utility grid interconnect points to motor terminal boxes, emphasizing power quality, harmonic suppression, operator safety, and automated process control.

  • HT/LT Power Distribution & Substation Layouts: Engineering of high-tension indoor and outdoor substations up to 230kV (AIS and GIS configurations). Scope covers step-down power transformer sizing, high-voltage vacuum/SF6 circuit breakers, neutral grounding resistors (NGR), busduct corridors, and motor control centers (MCC).
  • Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs) & Protection Schemes: Comprehensive SLDs showing fault levels, protection relay coordination (overcurrent, earth fault, differential, reverse power), circuit breaker breaking capacities, and arc-flash incident energy analysis.
  • Earthing Grid & Lightning Protection: Substation and plant-wide earthing grid design complying with IEEE 80 and IS 3043 to guarantee step and touch potentials remain within safe physiological thresholds under maximum short-circuit conditions. Lightning protection systems designed to IS/IEC 62305 standards.
  • CEIG Statutory Approvals: Full preparation of electrical drawings, fault level calculation books, transformer yard clearances, and protection coordination schemes required for statutory submission to the Chief Electrical Inspector to Government (CEIG) for safety approvals and charging sanctions.
  • Instrumentation & Control Architecture: Design of distributed control systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA human-machine interfaces, and remote I/O panels. Deliverables include instrument hook-up drawings, cable schedules, junction box terminations, and SIL-rated Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
